Unlike previous generations of cryotherapy systems, Galil’s products are gas-based systems with Plug & Freeze® capabilities, ensuring a much higher degree of control of the freezing process. Advanced imaging modalities (MRI, Ultrasound, CT) are used to guide the placement of probes and needles and monitor the ablation process in real time. Iceball formation is clearly visible in these images. The company’s new generation of innovative, high-resolution SeedNet™ cryo-therapy for the treatment of prostate cancer features patented ultra-thin needles that are inserted through a template in a method similar to brachytherapy. Instead of radioactive seeds, SeedNet™ implants IceSeeds™ using temperatures as low as minus 180 degrees Celsius for complete destruction of tissue. Incorporating advanced hypercooling technology, the Galil system allows extremely fast, high-resolution, and controlled destruction of cancerous tissue while preventing damage to surrounding healthy tissue. Of special interest: Our high-tech CryoHit® system is the only FDA approved cryotherapy system approved for use within the MRI environment.
