Aquawrap

AquaWrap provides both cooling and compression to an injury.  Cooling and compression are critical aspects of R.I.C.E. therapy.  AquaWrap, if needed, can be applied continually.  Ice can only be applied for a maximum of twenty minutes at a minimum of thirty-minute intervals.

AquaWrap provides moist cooling, no the typical ice-burn discomfort.  There is no danger of frost bite or freezer burn.  AquaWrap is 96 parts water, 3 parts Polyvinyl Alcohol and 1 part Sodium Borate (Borax).  This equation allows self-cooling by the evaporation process.

AquaWrap can be used many times as long as the wrap is rehydrated by running it under tap water, pressing out the excess, returning it to its plastic bag and storing it in the jar it was purchased in.  

AquaWrap is self-adhesive and non-cumbersome.  It does not have to be refrigerated to be effective which also makes it very transportable in an emergency first aid kit.

Thermo-Pad utilizes the science of "phase change" to produce a heating pad that heats instantly to a safe preset temperature and is completely reusable.
Thermo-Pads come in a variety of sizes from the small pad that may be used as a hand warmer to the large pad designed to treat the neck and shoulders.
Thermo-Pads can be used for applications from hospital heat packs to heating pads to keep you warm while scuba diving.

HOW IT WORKS

Thermo-Pad is a heat storage device that utilizes the science of super cooled fluids to produce heat. If you have ever watched a cold bottle of pop freeze when opened, you have experienced the instant phase change of a super cooled liquid. If you could measure the temperature of the liquid before opening, you would see that the ice is warmer than the liquid.

When Thermo-Pad is in its liquid state and at room temperature, it is a super-cooled fluid. When the metal disc in the pad is flexed, the pad freezes (crystallizes) and generates heat.

Thermo-Pad uses the food grade salt sodium acetate which freezes (crystallizes) at 54^o C (130^o F) and can be super cooled in a sealed container to as low as -5^o C (23^o F). By flexing the metal disc in the pad, the super cooled liquid is made to freeze (crystallize) and the temperature of the pad increases to its freezing point of 54^o C. The Thermo-Pad will eventually cool and must then be recharged in order to return the crystals to their super cooled state.

Recharging is accomplished by simply melting the crystals and allowing them to cool. Although this can be done in a variety of ways, the simplest and safest method is by boiling the pad until all the crystals are melted. When the pad is completely liquid allow it to cool and it is ready to use again.

This process of melting and activating may be repeated hundreds of times, as long as the vinyl remains sealed.
