Vascular Technologies Ltd. is the sole developer and patent holder of a specialized technology that enables medical staff to know when a catheter needle is properly situated inside a vein, artery or similar body channel. VT has developed, produced and begun marketing a small and inexpensive device, called the Vein Entry Indicator Device (VEID), that utilizes the Company's core technologies. Based in the Kiryat Weizman Science Park, Rehovot, Israel, VT is a medical devices development company that was founded in 1996 under the auspices of the Incubator for Technological Entrepreneurship at Kiryat Weizman.

VT has developed a small device roughly the size of an acorn (20x21x21 mm and weighing 8.5 grams) which the doctor or IV nurse attaches to the proximal end of any standard catheter unit. The moment the needle penetrates a blood vessel, the VEID emits a continuous beeping signal. The signal ceases if the needle exits the vein, for instance by puncturing the distal venal wall. The first generation VEID developed by VT is a multi-use device for the peripheral venous catheter market. It consists of a non-disposable sensor unit with a disposable smart adapter. The adapter is placed on the proximal end of any standard catheter unit and the sensor fits into the other end. Contact with blood is prevented due to the specially designed disposable adapter and integrated hydrophobic filter, allowing the sensor unit to be re-used.
