CastCooler™ WORKS.
How it works: CastCooler creates a gentle vacuum on the outside of your cast, causing air to flow between your skin and the cast. Air flow is directed through the lining of your breathable orthopedic cast, removing moisture and cooling your skin. Without touching your skin, bacteria, itch and odor are significantly reduced, and your cast stays fresh.
How to prepare for use:
Separate the CastCooler blue wrap from the paper backing and discard paper. Insert the nozzle (chimney portion) though the hole of the blue wrap stretching he wrap until it seals against the base of the nozzle. Rotate nozzle to align the longer edge with the length of the wrap.
How to apply to knee, elbow, heel:
The CastCooler is uniquely designed for application to the knee, elbow or heel, areas where moisture typically collects in the lining of your cast. These are also areas that are difficult to dry due to perspiration, after bathing (provided you have a washable cast liner), or when water accidentally wets the cast lining. These areas are a snap to dry with the CastCooler.
The CastCooler may be applied to the knee, heel or elbow or the bend in the arm, leg or ankle. When applying to the knee, heel, or elbow, insure the CastCooler blue wrap seals entirely against the cast. This will maximize the cooling and drying effectiveness. First, wrap the CastCooler around the limb. Lightly stretch the CastCooler around the cast and cling the blue wrap onto itself. Then, close any open areas (black & white photo of open applied unit here) by gently stretching the edges of the wrap and folding the wrap over closing and gaps and sealing the wrap onto itself. (black & white photo of folded unit here). This procedure may be repeated on both sides of the nozzle to ensure that all gaps are closed.
How to apply to other areas:
You may apply the CastCooler to any area on the outside of a breathable orthopedic cast. Lightly stretch the CastCooler around the cast and cling the blue wrap onto itself.
How to Connect Vacuum:
Connect a standard vacuum hose (vacuum cleaner, shop vac or central vac) to the nozzle connection of the CastCooler. Turn vacuum on. Relax and enjoy the cooling sensation of moisture being removed from the lining through your breathable cast. Allow the flow of fresh air to completely dry your cast lining, usually within 10 minutes. Move the CastCooler to dry/cool other areas of your cast as needed. Repeat as often as desired or when your cast becomes moist or uncomfortable.
